Admission Requirements: Public Health, M.P.H.

To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following criteria:


  • Application Submission
    Submit a comprehensive graduate application for the M.P.H. program. All transcripts of college work, including proof of previous bachelor's degree to the application.

  • Statement of Purpose
    Craft a compelling Statement of Purpose with a maximum of 2 pages, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font. Clearly articulate your motivations for choosing New York Tech and pursuing the M.P.H. program. Outline your career objectives upon graduation, emphasizing how they align with the M.P.H. program.

  • Undergraduate GPA Requirement
    Have a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0.

  • International Requirements
    International applicants who have earned degrees at a foreign university must provide proof of English proficiency. This may be accomplished by achieving a minimum of 550 written, 213 computerized or 79/80 internet based on the TOEFL, a score of 6.0 or higher on IELTS (academic module), or a score of 53 or higher on the PTE or a score of 105 or higher on Duolingo.

    Those students who have been educated abroad are required to submit a course by course evaluation and an evaluation of your degree. Visit ADM Agencies to see which agencies you may use for this evaluation. We recommend SPANTRAN.

  • Conditional Acceptance for GPA 2.85 to 2.99
    Applicants with a GPA between 2.85 and 2.99 may be accepted conditionally. Conditionally accepted students must achieve a 3.0 GPA in their first 12 credits to continue in the program.

  • Letters of References:
    Provide three letters of reference from employers and professors. Ensure references speak to your academic and professional qualifications, emphasizing your suitability for the M.P.H. program.

  • Virtual Interview
    Participate in a virtual interview with the program chairperson. Use this opportunity to discuss your motivations, qualifications, and how you envision contributing to the M.P.H. program.

  • Guidance for Writing the Statement of Purpose
    Compose a Statement of Purpose adhering to the following guidelines and ensure your statement of purpose is clear, focused, and error-free.
    This document serves as a crucial representation of your motivations, qualifications, and goals to the admissions committee.

    1. Introduction (Approximately 1/4 Page): Clearly state your reasons for choosing New York Tech and the M.P.H. program. Introduce the overarching theme of your statement.

    2. Career Objectives (Approximately 1/2 Page: Outline your career objectives upon completing the M.P.H. program. Emphasize how the M.P.H. program at New York Tech aligns with and enhances these career goals.

    3. Passion and Motivation (Approximately 1/2 Page): Demonstrate your passion for public health. Share experiences or encounters that have shaped your commitment to the field.

    4. Strengths and Qualifications (Approximately 3/4 Page): Highlight your strengths, skills, and qualifications relevant to the M.P.H. program. Provide specific examples of experiences that have prepared you for success in the program.

    5. Alignment with Program (Approximately 1/4 Page): Reiterate the alignment between your aspirations and the M.P.H. program. Express how you envision contributing to the New York Tech M.P.H. community.

    6. Conclusion (Approximately 1/4 Page): Summarize key points concisely. Conclude with a powerful statement reaffirming your enthusiasm for joining the M.P.H. program.

General Application Materials

  • Completed application

  • $50 nonrefundable application fee

  • Copies of undergraduate transcripts for all schools attended. All final, official transcripts must be received prior to the start of your first semester.

  • Copy of college diploma or proof of degree.

  • International student requirements: English proficiency, I-20, and transcript evaluation

    Must submit an official course-by-course evaluation of the transcripts with all Individual Semester Mark-sheets and an official evaluation of the degree to New York Tech through the evaluating agency.
