7 Things You Should Know About NYIT Medical Library

Hours: The library is open 110 hours per week, including:

  • Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Saturday - Sunday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Check for additional hours before final exams and special holiday schedules.

Databases & eBooks: The library has subscriptions to many of the required and popular textbooks and journals including the following: ClinicalKey, AccessMedicine, Ovid, Thieme Ebook Collection, LWW HealthLibrary and CINAHL.

Textbooks: The library has copies of many of the textbooks used in courses. Students can search for these books in the library catalog. If we currently do not have a book, request it.

Technology: The library has 40 laptop computers for student use. These can be borrowed for 3 hrs at a time. The library also lends headphones and chargers.

Point of Care Medical Resources: The library has a subscription to UpToDate. It can be used remotely when off-campus, for access during clinical clerkships.

Interlibrary Loan: Interlibrary loans can be requested 24/7 by emailing comlibr1@nyit.edu. Turnaround time for receiving the requested article is generally 1-2 days. To avoid delays, always check Bearcat, the NYIT Library Catalog to see if we own the item prior to submitting ILL requests.
