New York Institute of Technology
Attention New York Tech Employees:

This is a reminder that beginning Wednesday, September 9, new protocols for accessing the New York City and Long Island campuses will be in place. Please review the protocols below prior to coming to campus.

Note: if you must come to campus on September 9-11, plan to arrive very early to ensure your timely access. If you are not required to be on campus, we discourage visits to campus this week.

Facial coverings are mandatory and must be worn at all times on campus when in the presence of others and in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (including common workspaces, meeting rooms, classrooms, etc.). You will be given a face covering if you arrive on campus without one. This month, you will be receiving a welcome kit that includes a facial covering, touchless door opening tool, hand sanitizer, and thermometer.

Remember: If you aren’t feeling well with COVID-19 symptoms, please do not come to campus.

Long Island and New York City Campus Access Protocols

To enter campus for any reason, you must log in to my.nyit.edu and complete the Daily Health Screen questionnaire (or access it via the New York Tech app on your smartphone). Faculty and staff are not required to submit proof of COVID-19 diagnostic virus testing, but you may take the COVID-19 test and submit the result. If you took a test administered by Enzo on campus, your results will be confidentially tabulated. See additional details here.

Long Island Campus: When you arrive on the Long Island campus, please enter through Main Campus Road. You will be directed to the security checkpoint in the Brook Lots, where there will be lanes set up for faculty and staff. Have your green approval screen from the Health Screen questionnaire available for review, and please wear your facial covering. Security guards will ask for your Health Screen approval before allowing you to enter campus.
  • City/Public Bus and Pedestrian Entry: Drop-off will be on the east side of Valentine’s Lane/Main Campus Road. Please walk to the security checkpoint on the east side of Main Campus Road.
  • University Shuttle from Train Stations: The Health Screen approval will be confirmed prior to boarding the shuttle. The shuttle will drop you off at the intercampus shuttle bus stop, south of the checkpoint on Main Campus Road.
  • Uber: Uber can either drop you off at the public bus stop on the east side of Valentine’s Lane/Main Campus Road, after which you walk to the security checkpoint on the east side of road OR Uber can take you through the checkpoint in the Brook One lot.

New York City Campus: All members of New York City campus community should queue at 1855 Broadway to gain access and approval to enter all campus buildings, including 1855 Broadway, 16 W. 61st St., and 26 W. 61st St.

The queue will start under the arcade at 1855 Broadway and wrap into the lobby and main floor of the library. The queue will be “polled” by the security guards. If you can show your green approval screen, you will be given your daily badge. There will be two lines upon entering the library: approved and “non-approved.” Once you’ve been approved, you will receive a badge for the day.

Once you receive your badge, you may access 1855 Broadway via the stairs or wait on elevator queue—or exit on 61st Street to proceed to other buildings:
  • 16 W. 61st St. doors will remain open, and the elevator queue will begin outdoors. You must have your badge to gain entry. Another queue will permit ground floor and lower level entry.
  • 26 W. 61st St. doors will remain open, and the elevator queue will begin outdoors. You must have your badge to gain entry. Another queue will permit lower level entry.
