Introduction to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB) was set up to offer temporary relief in response to the hunger crisis in 1983 and has grown significantly in the three decades since. Today the GVFB provides assistance to approximately 8,500 individuals monthly across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore. They supported 16,133 people in the last year: 25 percent were children, 58 percent were adults, and 17 percent were seniors.
Volunteering at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank
We are recruiting volunteers to participate in GVFB food sort activities on Friday, September 17 at the GVFB headquarters. Choose from the following two time slots:
- 9 a.m. – noon
- 1 – 4 p.m.

Important
The Great Vancouver Food Bank requires all participants to have received a minimum of one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The date you received the COVID-19 vaccine must be at least two weeks prior to your volunteering shift. You will need to provide proof of your immunization record. We will let you know how to submit your immunization record when you receive the event confirmation from us in early September.
