About Halima Aden: UNICEF Ambassador and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model, Halima Aden is the young model who has taken the fashion world by storm. After being the first contestant to compete in her Miss USA state pageant in a hijab and burkini, she was summoned to New York by fashion industry icon and former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief, Carine Roitfeld, who placed her on the cover of CR Fashion Book Issue 10 after her first professional photo shoot. Shortly afterward, Halima was signed by IMG Models for worldwide representation and walked in New York and Milan Fashion Weeks for designers such as Kanye West, Alberta Ferretti, and Max Mara, as well as for leading brand Modanisa at Modest Fashion Week in London. She has worked with top fashion photographers the likes of Mario Sorrenti, Inez and Vinoodh, and Sebastian Faena, and her recent covers include Vogue UK, Vogue Arabia, Allure, Glamour, and Teen Vogue. In addition, Halima was recently named an official UNICEF Ambassador following her TED Talk at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, Africa, joining the UNICEF ranks with Pink and Selena Gomez.
The event will be moderated by CPB, and is in collaboration with Muslim Student Association, Student Government Association, and UNICEF organizations.
