Public Housing Image: Talking Back to the Media

June 7, 2018
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

16 W. 61st St., 11th Floor
New York, NY

Join us for an NYIT/Fund for Public Housing workshop exploring the image of public housing and what it means to the future of this crucial public resource.

The workshop, led by Nicholas Bloom, Ph.D., associate professor of social science and chair of interdisciplinary studies and urban administration, will analyze the ways that New York Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments are portrayed in the media. NYCHA residents will be encouraged to share their perspectives and interpretations. Participants will explore, discuss, and debate the images they bring to the event. Participants will be broken up into groups to analyze and record their responses to media images and texts, developing summary analysis, key images with analysis, word clouds, and other tools.

This event is open to the NYIT community, NYCHA residents, and all concerned citizens!
