NYIT Department of Interior Design celebrates its 50th anniversary with an all-day symposium on October 19.

The afternoon symposium session, held at the AIA Center for Architecture, includes lightning talks and panel discussions with industry leaders. The evening keynote presentations featuring renowned designers Adam Tihany and Giorgio Borruso, and Director of Strategy Lauren Adams from Gensler, will be held at NYIT-Auditorium on Broadway.

Presentations and panel discussion will examine the rapidly evolving role of interior design in form-making; redefining interior design's role and stature in the overall conception and realization of projects.

Keynote Speakers:

  • Adam D. Tihany, Tihany Design
    Interior Design Magazine Hall of Fame inductee and world-renowned hospitality designer will discuss the design process involved in the conception of the ultra-luxury eight-story cruise ship Seaborn Encore and other projects, as conceived through the lens of the interior designer.
  • Giorgio Borruso, Giorgio Borruso Design
    Innovative experimental designer, recent recipient of German Design Award and UK FX Design Award, renowned for his retail work (Lord & Taylor's flagship store in Yonkers, Miss Sixty showroom, Carlo Pazolini) will discuss his recent work with the innovative pop-up retail stores for ShopWithMe and others.
  • Lauren Adams, Director of Strategy, Gensler
    Award-winning strategist and researcer at Gensler will discuss her work, which focuses on understanding consumer and human behavior in order to create meaningful design and brand engagements through "experience" analysis. Clients have included Disney, Nickelodeon, JetBlue, and Cadillac. She will discuss findings from Gensler's newest research initiative, the Gensler Design & Experience Index.
