NYC Climate Rally

September 20, 2019
11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

26 W. 61st St., Student Lounge, 1st Floor
New York, NY

On Friday, September 20—three days before the U.N. Climate Summit—young people and adults will rally all across the U.S. and world to demand transformative action be taken by our world's governments to address the climate crisis. New York Tech's Community Service Center will join this global movement and invites students, faculty, staff, and alumni to attend the rally in New York City's Battery Park.

We will meet on campus at 11 a.m. and travel to the site as a group.

  • Noon: Assemble at Foley Square
  • 1 p.m.: March to Battery Park
  • 3:30–5 p.m.: Rally at Battery Park

For the NYC Climate Strike, top-line demands are:

  1. No Fossil Fuels: We demand an immediate end to fossil fuel extraction and consumption, and on the industry’s lobbying and intrusion into our media, democracy, and day-to-day lives.
  2. Just Transition: We demand the prioritization of frontline communities, workers, and those least responsible for the climate crisis. We demand globally equitable climate solutions in the transition to a 100% renewable economy.
  3. Hold Polluters Accountable: We demand accountability from fossil fuel executives, the Global North countries and institutions most responsible for causing the climate crisis. We demand the exclusion of big polluters from decision-making spaces. We demand they make reparations both by paying for climate damages and investing in a just transition to renewable energy.
