National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is a national holiday celebrating our democracy. Every year millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register. The goal of NVRD is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote.

As a college with students from dozens of countries, the NYIT community recognizes the privilege of voting and embraces the responsibility of empowering people to use their political voices to affect change. This is why we participate in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, a national program encouraging colleges and universities to increase student voting rates.

On September 25, volunteers across the New York City and Long Island campuses will register people to vote and provide information on political institutions, organizations, and activities. Commit to volunteer on NVRD and contribute to a democratically engaged NYIT, during and between elections, and not just at the polls.
