N.Y.C.s is a new, experiential learning program offered by International and Experiential Education to introduce you to New York City as a hub of knowledge, culture, and career opportunities. The program consists of three tiers:
Navigate Your College
On our first meeting on September 20, you will meet your fellow navigators and participate in an activity that helps you find your way around NYIT. In teams, you compete in a mini scavenger hunt and learn about the services provided by different departments of our college. By the end of the day, you will not only have a better idea of where to find what during your time at NYIT but also start preparing for your mission within the second tier of the program....
Navigate Your Community
By our next meeting on October 18, you will have completed a mission sending you and your team across New York City. Together, you answer questions about the city’s rich history and culture, get to know its diverse communities, and learn more about each other along the way. A nice plus: successful completion of your team’s mission can earn you free tickets for New York City shows and events!
Navigate Your Career
This is the third and core tier of N.Y.C.s. From September 22 to December 6, you will participate in an externship with Work Awesome, a New York City-based startup company that hosts multiple conferences per year focusing on the future of work.
