The IT industry continues to move towards cloud-based infrastructure as a cost-efficient means to provide computer resources for a workforce that relies on myriad applications that must be always available and from any location. Hybrid and multi-cloud computing promise a scalable, robust and secure approach, yet can be complicated and expensive to implement and maintain. Hear about the latest technologies that simplify and manage cloud complexity with open, software-defined platforms, allowing businesses to focus on their primary goal of innovation and improving outcomes.


About the Industry Leaders Lecture Series

Dean Babak D. Beheshti, Ph.D., New York Tech College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, hosts the Industry Leader Lecture Series, offering students and practitioners a chance to hear from and interact with distinguished professionals in the tech industry.

Working professionals and undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend and learn from these leaders’ insights. The series offers participants a unique opportunity to ask questions about career choices and hear advice and stories directly from experts in the field. All talks will be web-based.

Certifications will be awarded, by request, to New York Tech students who attend two of the three sessions during the fall semester.

Virginia Gambale

Virginia Gambale (B.S. ’84) is a successful technology leader, investor, and experienced board director. As managing partner of Azimuth Partners LLC, Ms. Gambale operates globally, as an advisor and consultant, focused on the use of disruptive technologies (e.g. Cloud, AI, ML, VR, data analytics, and interactive B-B, and consumer digital platforms ) to assist in transforming or facilitating growth in both middle market and large corporations. She is also an advisor to high-growth Technology companies and several Tech-driven startup companies.

Ms. Gambale is highly regarded for her innovative thinking, leadership, and ability to deliver results. She has served on over 20 public and private boards in chair, lead Director, and committee chair roles including JetBlue (NASDAQ-JBLU) for 15 years, Motive (NASDAQ-MOTV), Piper Jaffray (NYSE-PJC), Workbrain (TSE-WB), Synchronoss Technologies (NASDAQ-SNCR), and IQ Financial (Chair).

Ms. Gambale currently serves as a director for: Nutanix (NASDAQ-NTNX) as chair of the board, chair of nominating & corporate governance, and audit committee member; JAMF (NASDAQ-JAMF) audit committee member; FD Technologies (LSE-FDP) also chair nominating & governance, audit committee member; and Virtu Financial (NASDAQ-VIRT) as chair of risk committee and private companies: 10X Banking and Avellino, as well as executive advisor for AttackIQ-Leading Cyber Security Optimization Platform. She also serves on the board of trustees for The Juilliard School.

As a former senior operating executive of Global Corporations, she held senior management positions (including CIO and managing director) at Merrill Lynch, Bankers Trust, Deutsche Bank, and Marsh & McLennan. Additionally, Ms. Gambale was the head of Deutsche Bank Strategic Ventures, and subsequently a general partner at Deutsche Bank Capital and ABS Ventures until founding Azimuth Partners in 2003. A former concert pianist in her early years, Ms. Gambale was the board president of the Newport Music Festival, an International Music Festival from 2014-2019. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University and mentor for Columbia University’s Masters in Technology Leadership. She is a frequent lecturer and keynote speaker on the strategic use of emerging technologies and cybersecurity.  She was one of the first NACD Fellows and often speaks at Director forums on cyber security and emerging technology trends and technology strategy and governance models.

Ms. Gambale has a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the New York Institute of Technology. Piano Performance Studies:  Hartt Conservatory and Juilliard Prep. Ms. Gambale resides in Connecticut with her two children and husband, Dr. Austin W. Feeney.

Babak Beheshti

Babak D. Beheshti, Ph.D., Professor and Dean, New York Tech College of Engineering and Computing Sciences

Babak's experience in higher education spans over 35 years, where he has served as a full-time faculty member, president of the Academic Senate, associate dean, and dean. As dean, Babak led the engineering college to the introduction of its first two Ph.D. programs, in computer science and engineering, two new bachelor's degree programs, and one new master's degree program, in addition to leading the college through its fastest climb in national rankings: #33 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs (National – no doctorate)—a climb of 13 places since 2020, and #191 Best Computer Science Undergraduate Programs (National – no doctorate), a new ranking in 2021—a climb of 40 places since 2020.

In line with the career-oriented mission of New York Tech, Babak has led the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences in building a strong partnership with industry and government organizations, including NASA, Zscaler, IBM Red Hat, Xilinx, Soter Technologies, and Zebra Technologies.
