Creative Tech Week Conference

On Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, NYIT will once again host the Creative Tech Week Conference, featuring over 50 experts working on today's most cutting-edge creative technologies. Sessions on both days run from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 20

Panels will cover building a creative technology business from scratch and the intersection of creative technology and social impact. You will also have the opportunity to hear from the director of the International Lumen Prize for Digital Art, whose awarded artists’ work will be on display in the lobbies.

NYIT Highlights

  • 12:15 – 1:15 p.m.: Put Yourself Into a BR Game Using 3-D Scanning and Motion Capture—Learn about the process of creating a VR game with Unity and the Oculus Rift. We will utilize a mix of technologies including 3D Scanning, Cloud based rigging and animation software, a game engine, and a VR head mounted display. The end result will be a VR interactive game experience where a the character is a 3D model generated Avatar of YOU! Location:The HIVE, 16 West 61st St., room 924.
  • 3:10 – 4 p.m.: Panel: Data Storytelling and Visualization—Data Visualization and Data Storytelling experts explore the data from multiple angles: historically; as a data collector; as a creator; and as a developer. Discuss the meaning and purpose of data visualizations and learn how to make better visualizations in Python. Moderated by Charles Matz, Executive Director of the NYIT Center of Excellence for Data Visualization, Entertainment, and Education Engineering. Location: NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, 1871 Broadway.

Sunday, May 21

Sunday is VR and Mixed Reality Day with keynotes from industry leaders in VR, talks and panels on the future of entertainment in VR and developing meaningful concept and content for virtual storytelling; plus a bonus half-hour tutorial on building mixed reality experiences for Microsoft Hololens in Unity.
