COVID-19: Pulling Back the Curtain on a Pandemic

April 27, 2021
12:30 PM – 1:50 PM

January 20, 2020, was the date of the first confirmed case of COVID-19 infection in the United States. This first case from Snohomish, Washington was the forebearer of a pandemic that to date has infected 30.4 million Americans and has cost the lives of over 550,000 others. In the reporting of all of the carnage caused by COVID-19 infections in the United States, it is sometimes possible to forget the individual suffering and monumental efforts by medical systems to combat the pandemic. This speaker series will provide a perspective on the individual effects of the pandemic on hospital systems, violence in domestic partner relationships, and the overall effect of COVID-19 on mental health issues on survivors and the population as a whole. In effect, we will be “Pulling Back the Curtain on a Pandemic” to expose some of its nuances and effects.
