College of Engineering and Computing Sciences: Leadership and Certificate Program
This program supports the mission of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences and serves to strengthen our goal-oriented students, assisting them in the development of a strong sense of self and the cultivation of their business, interpersonal, and leadership skills. At the completion of this program, students will be equipped with the fundamentals needed to pursue graduate studies and prepared to join the workforce.
SIX-PILLAR PROGRAM STRUCTURE
You must complete two core courses focusing on leadership and communication, three elective courses in the areas of career development, interpersonal skills, and community, and attend one New York Tech-hosted event/workshop of your choice.
Core Courses (Required)
- Leadership: This workshop introduces you to the program and the different leadership theories to help you understand which leadership style suits your best.
- Communication: Helps you understand the basics of organizational communication; how your personality contributes to your personal communication style and how you can learn to communicate with other personalities.h other.

- Career Development
- Public Speaking
- Emotional Intelligence
- Team Building & Conflict Management
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Service Learning (fall or spring)
Core classes will be held in fall and electives in spring. Program requirements must be completed within two semesters (one academic year). Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate of completion.
Honors Program: All honors students are encouraged to complete this program. Exclusive honors students-only workshops will be held.
