A New Beginning

Ioannis Daniil is an incoming freshman at New York Institute of Technology, planning to pursue biomedical engineering. The Box sat down with Daniil to learn more about his plans and goals.

Why did you choose to study at New York Institute of Technology?
I chose New York Institute of Technology because I wanted to find a school that was local and didn’t have a huge tuition cost. Also, my friend is attending New York Tech, and he told me that it is a great school. Overall, I think I made the right choice.

Why did you choose to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering?
I chose this major mostly because of personal interests. I originally wanted to be a surgeon, but I felt that would be too stressful, so then I wanted to be an engineer, and then I woke up one day and thought, why not combine the two and go into biomedical engineering?

What are you most looking forward to at New York Tech?
I’m mostly looking forward to being in new environment that is different from high school and experiencing a more professional atmosphere. Also, I’m looking forward to meeting new people and hopefully making some new friendships with my classmates. I am excited to learn about the real world and my major

How do you think your New York Tech education will help prepare you for the future?
I think New York Tech will help me to prepare for my future profession because I am going to learn a lot of new information about my major, and that will help me to be ready for the real world. I am going to work hard, and New York Tech is going to help me build a bright future for myself.
