NYIT-Abu Dhabi Celebrates Graduation Weekend

The NYIT-Abu Dhabi community ended their academic year on a festive note by honoring the the Class of 2019 and esteemed alumni. Spirits were high on May 2, the night before graduation, as visitors from New York arrived to greet alumni, soon-to-be-graduates, friends, and faculty at the Fifth Annual Homecoming Dinner. On May 3, the graduates gathered at the Dusit Thani Hotel (next to NYIT’s Abu Dhabi campus) for a formal ceremony. Associate Provost Lou Reinisch, Ph.D., and Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Patrick Minson joined NYIT-Abu Dhabi Executive Director and Campus Dean Monique Taylor in congratulating the site’s 52 graduates. This year’s class includes 35 bachelor’s graduates in mechanical engineering, interior design, and business administration, along with 17 master’s graduates in instructional technology, business administration, and cybersecurity.

New graduates in Abu Dhabi rejoiced with their classmates.

Nour Al Labadi (M.B.A. ’19) expressed both humility and gratitude when she said, “Our journey at NYIT would not have been possible without our professors, staff members, security guards, and janitors—you’ve all made this a better place, and we are thankful for your efforts and motivation.”

The next morning was the launch of the Abu Dhabi chapter of the NYIT Alumni Association with a brunch at the Eastern Mangroves Hotel. Currently, more than 700 graduates of NYIT-Abu Dhabi work in professional positions throughout the Gulf region and are part of a network of more than 100,000 NYIT alumni worldwide.
