News Byte: Meeting the Challenge of Virtual Education

May 15, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the increased need for expertise in remote and online learning, New York Tech has announced a new Virtual Education program to help educators face the technical and pedagogical challenges of e-learning.

The program is being offered as both a New York State-recognized 12-credit Advanced Certificate and a 6-credit microcredential. Teachers looking to complete the microcredential will be able to do so this summer, as both required courses are being offered during our summer term.

“This Virtual Education program provides teachers with the understandings and skills they need right now as schooling is transformed through the use of technology,” explains Department of Education Chair, Robert Feirsen, Ed.D. “The program enables teachers to develop expertise in how to use digital tools to expand student knowledge, build strong foundations for future growth, and encourage students to express themselves in creative—and safe—ways.”

The COVID pandemic has altered the way schools deliver education to an estimated 50.8 million public and private school students. New York Tech, with its top-rated online graduate program, is ideally suited to help teachers in New York State and elsewhere adapt to and thrive in this new teaching environment.
