On April 10, 145 faculty, staff, and students from NYIT-Long Island, NYIT-New York City, and NYITCOM-Arkansas participated in 18 initiatives during New York Institute of Technology’s second Community Engagement Day. In New York, volunteers mulched beds at the Planting Fields Arboretum, donated blood, got swabbed to find out if they are a potential bone marrow match, collected new and used books for the Central Islip Family Health Center, fed the homeless, and donated clothes for the INN at Hempstead, among other activities. In Arkansas, participants washed the Bread of Life Mobile Food Pantry truck and organized the costume closet for the Foundation of Arts. Volunteers logged 210 hours of community service.
