November 14, 2017

In addition to celebrating its diversity at myriad events comprising NYIT’s International Education Week programming, the university’s diverse community also celebrates a wide range of holidays throughout the year. Maybe you’ve never heard of Holi or Sukkot or Victoria Day, but odds are that many of your classmates or professors at NYIT campuses have happy memories of such occasions. Likewise for many other special days, whether Eid al-Fitr, Qingming Festival, Family Day, or Epiphany.

“I am constantly delighted to see the genuine diversity of outlooks, religions, and nationalities here at NYIT. Everyone can belong here, because all are welcome,” said NYIT President Hank Foley, Ph.D.

To increase awareness of the many occasions celebrated around the world, nyit.edu now displays a list of major holidays that may have special significance for members of the NYIT community. As the U.S. end-of-year holiday season takes off, look ahead to the many traditional and holy days celebrated by the people around you.
