Steven Billis specializes in digital design, VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL), and quantum electronics/optics. His research focuses on engineering education and in this regard he has publications in the proceedings of the ASEE, FIE and Edulearn conferences.

Billis serves as the Director of Assessment and Planning for the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences. As Director he has attended:

  • AAUP at New York Institute of Technology Annual Conferences 2006–2011
  • ABET Symposium 2014

He is a senior consultant and project leader for AXA/Equitable Life Assurance Company since 1988 and an educational consultant for Rhode Island Institute of Technology. He is a member of the engineering honor societies Tau Bet Pi and Eta Kappa Nu.
