Patrick Cheng graduated from University of British Columbia with a bachelor's of applied science degree (BASc) in Mechanical Engineering, and from City University of Seattle with an M.B.A.

He is the founder and president of A Planet Without Borders, a global multi-disciplinary non-profit platform organization. Its purpose is to serve as a global platform organization for different "Without Borders" groups, such as:

  • Architects Without Borders
  • Scientists Without Borders
  • Agronomists Without Borders
  • Project Managers Without Borders
  • Doctors Without Borders
  • Dentists Without Borders
  • Veterinarians Without Borders
  • Pharmacists Without Borders
  • Nurses Without Borders
  • Teachers Without Borders
  • MBAs Without Borders
  • Accountants Without Borders
  • Financial Analysts Without Borders
  • Bankers Without Borders
  • Lawyers Without Borders
  • Librarians Without Borders
  • Translators Without Borders
  • Sociologists Without Borders
  • Reporters Without Borders
  • Capital Without Borders

The platform encourages different "Without Borders" groups to mix and mingle and to share ideas, skills, knowledge, experience, and resources. This will lead to ingenuity, creativity, and originality, which in turn will lead to innovation.

Patrick has taught at New York Institute of Technology (Vancouver Campus), Acsenda School of Management, and University Canada West.

He received the "Fellow of Engineers Canada" Award for his excellent contribution towards the engineering profession in Canada.
