Leon Applewhaite specializes in labor law, employment law, and business law. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the National Mediation Board, the New Jersey State Board of Mediation, the New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority, and the National Bituminous Coal Industry. He was a board member of the U.S. Federal Labor Relations Authority from 1979 to 1983.
Applewhaite conducts arbitration and mediation hearings, attends conferences and meetings for the Labor and Employment Relations sections of the American and New York State Bar Associations, as well as the Nassau County Bar Association. He received his L.L.M. and J.D. degrees from Brooklyn Law School, and his B.A. in History and Political Science from New York University. He has an honorary doctoral degree from Shaw University.
