Previously held senior management positions at the United Nations, UNEP Director, North America; Coordinator for sustainable development, Special Advisor to Deputy Secretary General, Principal Administrator for Environment and Development, Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD, Paris).Founding Director, Bard Center for Environmental Policy and BCEP’s masters program. Nonprofit boards: Green Seal, Inc.; Women’s Network for a Sustainable Future; Environment & Public Health Network for Chinese Students & Scholars.

Author of books, articles, and public lecturer on environmentally sustainable development, urban economic development, policies for aging populations, and human rights. Degrees from Northwestern(AB), Harvard(AMT), Washington Univ., St. Louis(MA.,Ph.D.).Awards from Ripon College (honorary LLD). EPA, Region II, Organization for American States, Center for Study of New Nations, Univ. of Chicago. Languages: English, French, Spanish and Polish.

Founded in 2006, the Environment & Public Health Network for Chinese Students and Scholars (ENCSS) is dedicated to improving environmental and public health in China and the United States. The graduate students and young professionals in 27 Chinese provinces and 22 US states share the principle that education should influence and improve people's lives beyond the university classroom.
