Dr. Huanying (Helen) Gu Associate Professor of Computer Science, NYIT Dr. Huanying (Helen) Gu is an associate professor of computer science at New York Institute of Technology. Her research interests include conceptual and object-oriented data modeling, extensible data models, knowledge representation, and medical informatics (with an emphasis on controlled medical terminologies). She is currently a co-principal investigator on a National Library of Medicine (NLM) grant that focuses on partitioning and abstraction techniques for auditing and extending the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS). Dr. Gu's research has also been supported by the Foundation of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ-SHRP). She has published many papers in international journals and conferences. Dr. Gu received the UMDNJ-SHRP Dean's Award for Excellence in Research in 2003. She earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, her master’s degree in computer science from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, both in China, and her Ph.D. in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology. |
