Alan Weakly Consultant and Founder, Innovative Mining Solutions Alan Weakly is founder of Innovative Mining Solutions, a consulting firm that specializes in the mining industry. He has more than 33 years of experience working in the civil and mining engineering disciplines. His career accomplishments include success in the advancement of mining technology, working in the lead mines of Missouri, the development of shale oil in Colorado, and the open pit coal mines of Wyoming. Weakly has authored or co-authored and published a total of 36 technical papers advancing the technology of numerous mining disciplines. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, MO., and a degree in mining engineering from the University of Missouri in Rolla, MO. He is the primary inventor and holder of three patents dealing with the control of fugitive and respirable dust at conveyor transfers. The technology is protected by United States, Canadian, and Australian patents. As a result of his paper titled “An Inconvenient Reality,” published in the April 2008 issue of Mining Engineering, Weakly was selected by the Society of Mining Engineers to be a Distinguished Henry Krumb Lecturer for 2008-2009 and presented the paper at 10 cities throughout the United States and Canada. |
