Introduction to Database Searching

my4321plan

my4321plan supports the successful transition of all first and second year students to NYIT by tailoring the program to each student's academic and career goals. The plan integrates academics, financial literacy, and experiential learning to help students make the most of their college experience.  The Student Solutions Center works with students to help them graduate in 4 years; earn a competitive 3.0 GPA; commit 2 academic excellence; and complete at least 1 internship related to their field of study.

First Year - 0 to 30 credits

Student Solutions Center

  • Meet with your Student Solutions Center Manager to review class schedule, degree requirements, campus resources, and discuss your personal adjustment to NYIT.
  • Complete a comprehensive review of financial account and financial aid, including scholarships and grants.
  • Identify on-campus resources (academic, administrative, and campus life) to ensure that your college experience is successful and memorable.

Office of Career Services

  • Meet with the Community Service Center and complete one community service project.
  • Identify personal interests, skills, and values using FOCUSOnline (enter NYIT Access Code NYIT).
  • Meet with a career services advisor to discuss career goals and academic strengths.
  • Draft your resume with your first college internship in mind.

Second Year - 31 to 62 credits

Student Solutions Center

  • Meet with your Student Solutions Center Manager to review fall and spring academic performance.
  • Discuss completed coursework and intended major.
  • Review second year financial account and financial aid, including eligibility for Scholarship Incentive Award.
  • Identify campus organizations that you are interested in and get involved on campus.

Office of Career Services

  • Sign up for the Internship Certificate Program and learn how to obtain your first college internship.
  • Work part-time or volunteer with a company related to your major or career goals.
  • Attend seminars and workshops on a variety of industry and career-related topics.
  • Meet with career services to learn about job search strategies, resumes, and portfolios.

Transfer Students

Student Solutions Center

  • Meet with your Student Solutions Center Manager to review class schedule, degree requirements, campus resources, and discuss your personal adjustment to NYIT.
  • Complete a comprehensive review of financial account and financial aid, including aggregate loan limits and Scholarship Incentive Award eligibility.
  • Review program evaluation and semester maps to align with academic and career goals.
  • Discuss first semester academic performance and GPA to keep you on track to graduate.
  • Monitor your academic account to make sure all transcripts are received and potential credits are posted.

Office of Career Services

  • Meet with a career services advisor to discuss career goals and academic strengths.

  • Sign up for the Internship Certificate Program.
