Childhood Education
Childhood education, formerly known
as elementary education, focuses on
the needs of children in first
through sixth grades. Teachers who
specialize in this age group need a
strong understanding of child
development to notice potential learning difficulties or to recognize gifted children. Elementary school teachers must be proficient in a wide variety of classroom subject areas in order to cultivate the foundation of learning and study skills for their students.
