What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy is the use of purposeful activity with individuals who are limited by physical injury or illness, psychosocial dysfunction, developmental or learning disabilities, poverty, cultural differences or the aging process. The practice of occupational therapy encompasses evaluation, intervention and consultation in order to help the individual to maximize independent function, to prevent further disability and to maintain health.
