Planning and Assessment at NYIT
The Office of Planning and Assessment at NYIT is charged with maintaining and strengthening the links between assessment, planning, and decision-making at the university. To fulfill this charge, the office maintains and updates a "2030 Scorecard." This assessment and planning tool links anticipated outcomes for each goal in NYIT 2030, the institution's strategic plan, to both short- and long-term financial planning processes.
Planning and assessment activities are centered on the following principles:
- NYIT has systematic, coordinated processes overseen by a steering committee and vice president to set institutional targets, monitor results, and use those results to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
- NYIT has a written and updated assessment plan for the university.
- Numerical targets are set within the 2030 Scorecard to measure the effects of the university’s strategic plan on key performance indicators.
- A five-year financial planning process links planning with assessment by means of the 2030 Scorecard.
- NYIT’s assessment infrastructure continues to be improved through new staffing and the development of an institutional data warehouse.
Based on the results of key performance indicators, NYIT has carefully, and through due process, made significant financial decisions in each budget cycle over the past five years to focus the allocation of institutional resources within and guided by the strategic plan.
