On Sunday April 21, 2013, members of the NYIT Physician Assistant Studies Class of 2015 participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) 2nd Annual Pineapple 5K Classic. The race, which was held on the NYIT campus in Old Westbury and concluded at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, consisted of obstacles that the runners had to climb, crawl, and maneuver through along the way.
Team members raised over $6,600.00 for the LLS in just under 3 weeks! The team finished 3rd overall in fundraising and 3rd overall for the fastest race time for teams of 10 or more members. The Physician Assistant Class of 2015 ran in honor of Audrey DeMarco, who recently completed treatment, and Eugene Davoli, who is currently undergoing treatments.
Members of the team included: Cory Bazany, Pat Cazilas, Kyle Colquhoun, Colbie Cross, Kristen D'Altorio, Eric Daniels, Kate DeMarco, Katie O'Brien, Jordan Roberts, Allyson Ross, Steven Savery, Alissa Silverstein, Brittni Silvestri, Heather Tabolt, Jonathan Tan, Joelle Tanguy and Kristine Prazak, an assistant professor in the NYIT Department of Physician Assistant Studies.
Carey Szymczak, a second-year student in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, has been elected as a student representative for the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants. This is the third time in the past 10 years that a PA student from NYIT has been elected to a position in this national organization.
On May 18th, 2012, forty-eight students in the Class of 2012’s Physician Assistant Studies program traded waist-length jackets for long white coats as they celebrated their new career just two days before NYIT’s commencement. Read more...
