Physical Therapy faculty members Dr. Peter Douris and Prof Teresa Ingenito, along with PA faculty member Prof. Barbara Piccariello, presented their research on "Martial Arts Training Attenuates Arterial Stiffness in Middle-aged Adults" at the most recent NYIT Provost Discovery Luncheon. The research has also been accepted for publication in the Asian Journal of Sports Medicine. Class of 2015 DPT students, Joe Dias, Jennifer Weinman, John Nulty and Victoria Wilson participated in NYU 5K Run to benefit the Foundation for Physical Therapy. Established in 1979, the Foundation supports the physical therapy profession’s research needs in scientific research, clinical research, and health services research and willl continue to support the many researchers around the country who are now developing new treatments and approaches in so many arenas, such as orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, neurology, chronic conditions, and cardiology. Dr. Karen Friel and Dr. Cheryl hall presented their research on "Epidemiology of Injuries in the Elite Level Female High School Lacrosse Player" at APTA's Combined Sections Meeting in Chicago. Their findings show that these high school players have an injury pattern that is more comparable to that seen in the collegiate player than in their high school peers.
