The combined program is designed for the exceptional high school student who knows they want to pursue a degree in physical therapy. As of September 1, 2012, for consideration, applicants should have:
For admission directly into the doctoral program applicants must possess a bachelor's or master's degree, and should have an academic record that includes a balance of coursework in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, including competency in English writing. Generally, to be competitive, applicants should have a GPA of at least 3.0 and science and math grades a C+ or higher. Other requirements include:

The Physical Therapy Admissions Committee will review completed applications and those who qualify will be invited to the interview process. The Physical Therapy Admissions Committee will then render the final admission decision.

The application deadline is January 16, 2013 . Early decision applicants must apply through PTCAS by August 15, 2012. Applicants to the preprofessional (prerequisite) phase must submit their applications through the NYIT Office of Admissions.
Accepted applicants to the Physical Therapy program are required to apply for a criminal background check through PTCAS after acceptance to the professional phase of the program.Applicants to the School of Health Professions should be aware that certain legal issues and/or convictions may preclude a student from being accepted by clerkships, internships and/or field work and impact the student’s ability to complete the required program courses and qualify for graduation, certification and/or licensure.
The Department of Physical Therapy has been using the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) since August 1, 2008. For further information, please go to the PTCAS website www.ptcas.org. All applicants for direct entry into the professional phase of the program must submit their applications through PTCAS. Specific instructions related to the application process can be found at the PTCAS website.
