SELECTION CRITERIA FOR NYCOM MED-PREP I
Gaining entrance into the HCOP Program:
1. All students interested in participating in HCOP Medical School Program
must first follow the admissions process necessary for admission to NYCOM. Applicants from educationally and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds are reviewed by the Admissions Committee using the same criteria applied to all applications. All candidates for admission to NYCOM including prospective HCOP participants receive a full review and are selected on a competitive basis. Disadvantaged- defined as students from an environment that has inhibited the
individual from obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to succeed
in health profession/medical schooling. For a student with an annual income
below a level based on low income thresholds according to family size. Students
who apply to NYCOM and meet the economic or education criteria for entry must
provide tax returns to support their applications.
2. Selected students will be accepted as students of NYCOM. These accepted
students will be required to attend a six week summer program titled Med Prep I.
In addition to being disadvantaged, HCOP students must be:
- A United States citizen, non citizen nationals or foreign nationals with a VISA permitting permanent United States residence.
- Willing to make a commitment to HCOP program activities and responsibilities.
