New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT (NYCOM) is proud to announce its new Master of Science in Medical Education/Health Care Simulation.
The first such graduate program in the United States, this 44-credit degree program prepares students for careers in the growing field of human patient simulation. Patient simulation educators use standardized patients, mannequin-based simulations, and computer-based simulations to teach and assess professional skills at medical and nursing schools, hospitals, and medical licensing boards. Human simulations are also used in law schools and graduate schools of professional psychology.

Researchers from around the region (NY, CT, NJ, MA, PA, RI, DC, MD) are coming together for the first meeting of the Northeast Regional Symposium on Evolutionary Vertebrate Morphology.
The event will be held on March 30th, 2012 in the Rockefeller Auditorium (NYCOM I Bldg) of NYCOM/NYIT, and run from 8am-5pm. The event is being organized by Dr. Beatty & Dr. Mihlbachler of the Dept. of Anatomy.

Dr. Victoria Rudenko, former fellow in 2009 and graduate of NYCOM in 2011, is the first author on a novel finding showing that cannabinoids have biphasic effects in development.

Dr. Isaac Kurtzer’s paper entitled 'Primary motor cortex underlies multi-joint integration for fast feedback control' has been featured in this week's press release for Nature. Dr. Kurtzer is an assistant professor in the Department of Neuroscience/Histology.

This year our NYCOM students and myself will be involved on Saturday, October 29, 2011 with the National Osteopathic Medical Association (NOMA) at a health fair at the Orlando Union Rescue Mission*, during the American Osteopathic Associations National Convention in Florida. This is our seventh national event! |

Everyone is invited to attend the NYCOM Summer 2011 Research Symposium.
When: August 24, 2011
Where: NYCOM II (Riland) Auditorium
Noon-1pm Poster Presentations – all students in the program (front hallway)
1-2 pm Short talks – 3 students will be selected to present short (~10’) talks on their summer research projects (auditorium)
Come support our student researchers and learn about the research activities of some of the NYCOM faculty.
This program has been coordinated with Academic Affairs to enable 1st and 2nd year students to attend.
Refreshments will be served.

Reem Abu-Sbaih, D.O. (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)), assistant professor of osteopathic manipulative medicine at NYCOM, has been accepted as a fellow in a new program to train mid-career osteopathic physicians as clinical researchers. She is one of only 14 fellows in the inaugural class at the Osteopathic Research Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and will attend weekend seminars through next December to complete training in clinical research.
