NYIT Elects Four New Members to its Board of Trustees
Old Westbury, N.Y., Nov. 8, 2007—New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) has announced the election of four new members to its Board of Trustees.
Kirstin Cole is New York City-based WCBS-TV’s consumer investigative reporter. Since joining the station in 2001, she has worked as a street reporter and served as co-anchor of the weekend news broadcasts. In her daily stories, Cole exposes scams, dangerous products, and abusive consumer practices. She has helped countless consumers get back thousands of dollars. Her recent work has garnered an Emmy and several other journalism awards. Prior to joining WCBS-TV, she was a reporter and anchor for WPIX-TV (New York City). Cole, who earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Loyola University (Chicago, Ill.), is a member of the board of directors of the Achilles Track Club.
Ronald D’Agostino, D.O., has since 1993 been an attending cardiologist at the four major tertiary-care cardiology centers in Nassau County, N.Y. He also serves as a principal partner and medical director of Long Island Cardiovascular Imaging and Consultants, a New York-area practice group specializing in noninvasive and consultative cardiology, especially nuclear cardiology, vascular medicine, and echocardiography. D’Agostino earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from NYIT’s New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) in 1985 and is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, nuclear cardiology, and echocardiography. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at NYCOM.
Kevin D. Silva is chief administrative officer for MBIA Inc., where he oversees management services including human resources, corporate administration, information resources, facilities, telecommunications, and records management. Silva joined MBIA in 1996 from Merrill Lynch & Company, where he was first vice president and director of human resources for global capital markets. He also served as vice president for global human resources and development at MasterCard International and has held senior positions at Pepsi-Cola. Silva earned a master’s degree in psychology from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from St. John’s University.
Norman Sveilich, D.O., has served since 1991 as director of osteopathic orthopedic training for the Peninsula Hospital Consortium (N.Y.) and has graduated over 50 orthopedic surgeons from the program and has at present 20 in training. He is also chief of orthopedics at Franklin Hospital Medical Center (N.Y.). Sveilich serves as clinical associate professor of orthopedic surgery at NYIT’s New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYCOM) and as program director for its orthopedics residency program at Peninsula Hospital. He also maintains a private orthopedic practice on Long Island and in Queens, N.Y. Sveilich, a Brooklyn College graduate, earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of Health Sciences, Kansas City, Mo.
