Fall Lunch Specials at NYIT’s de Seversky Center


Old Westbury, N.Y., Sept. 19, 2006: New York Institute of Technology’s (NYIT) de Seversky Center offers public lunch specials every Tuesday through Friday from September to November. Seatings are at noon and 12:30 p.m. The de Seversky Center is located on NYIT’s Old Westbury, N.Y., campus. For full menu, reservations or a list of upcoming events, please call 516.686.1249. Tuesday

Lunch features a buffet of cold foods, including shrimp cocktail, grilled portabella mushrooms and marinated asparagus, sliced mozzarella and tomato with pesto dressing, and Waldorf salad. Choice of entrées include grilled chicken with glazed apples and calvados sauce with vegetables and wild rice, wild mushroom ravioli with reggiano cream sauce, or grilled marinated flank steak with Madeira wine sauce, vegetables and roasted new potatoes. For dessert, enjoy chocolate flourless cake with whipped cream and fresh berries.

Price: $18.95 per person (plus tax, 18 percent service charge and beverage).

Wednesday

Lunch begins with a first course of shrimp salad with avocado and dijonaise sauce. Buffet entrées include an omelet station, carving board station with baked Virginia ham served with pineapple sauce, and various hot food selections, including sautéed chicken with caramelized apples and calvados sauce, wild rice with almonds and dried cherries, sautéed seasonal fresh vegetables, tortellini with peas, and asparagus served in reggiano cream sauce. For dessert, enjoy baked apple brown betty with dried cranberries and vanilla bean ice cream.

Price: $15.95 per person (plus tax, 18 percent service charge and beverage).

Thursday

Enjoy homemade soups, including New England clam chowder and roasted butternut squash, served with a buffet of assorted wraps and sandwiches served on ciabetta, seven grain and foccocia breads. Cold buffet foods include grilled portabella mushrooms and asparagus, sliced mozzarella and tomato with pesto dressing, roasted red peppers and basil salad, fresh fruit display, and salad station with condiments.

Price: $15.95 per person (plus tax, 18 percent service charge and beverage).

Friday

Lunch features a buffet of cold foods, including shrimp cocktail, grilled portabella mushrooms and marinated asparagus, sliced mozzarella and tomato with pesto dressing, and Waldorf salad. Choice of entrées include grilled swordfish with spinach and toasted Israeli cous cous with tomato basil confit, New York strip steak with wild mushrooms, rosemary infused potatoes and sautéed green beans, or lobster ravioli with thyme butter sauce. For dessert, enjoy blueberry-topped cheesecake.

Price: $18.95 per person (plus tax, 18 percent service charge and beverage).

NYIT’s de Seversky Center is a premier conference and dining facility in the New York metropolitan area and a setting for weddings, business meetings and other celebratory occasions. The beautiful mansion is open to the public for lunch Tuesday through Friday and for dinner several nights each month. The center is named for well-known Russian aviator Alexander P. de Seversky, who played a key role in NYIT’s acquisition of the estate in 1972. NYIT’s de Seversky Center is led by Robert J. Rizzuto, executive chef and general manager, who has more than 20 years of culinary experience and is certified by the American Culinary Federation.
