The Academic Scholars Program offers selected the College of Osteopathic Medicine students an additional year of training in the fundamental elements of Academic Medicine which includes formal didactic courses along with structured experiences in research and teaching. For their general teaching experiences, scholars rotate through the Departments of OMM, Family Medicine and either Neurosciences or Anatomy. For specific lectures and their research project, Scholars can chose (or be paired) with faculty mentors from any Department. During their additional year at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, scholars earn credits to complete a Masters Degree in Neuromusculosketal Sciences which is awarded at the same time they receive their Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine.
