Biomedical Students Awarded

NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine students, Anna Sverkunova, OMS-II, and Daniela McCooey (Scaldaferri), OMS-II, each has been awarded a $250 American Association of Anatomists (AAA) Student/Postdoc Travel Award in support of their participation at AAA’s annual meeting during Experimental Biology (EB) 2013 conference (April 20-24, Boston, MA).

Anna and Daniela will present the results of their original research projects entitled “The dynamics of neuropeptide Y protein expression in the developing mouse heart” and “Continuous reduction of heart rate by ivabradine cannot prevent deterioration of cardiac function in middle‐aged rats with a large myocardial infarction”, respectively.

Both research projects have been conducted under the supervision of Dr. Eduard I. Dedkov, NYITCOM Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences.
