The immigration policy of the United States provides for the annual entrance of many highly skilled professionals. Numerous emigrated physicians have settled in the New York area and throughout the United States. In many instances, these physicians are highly trained and very experienced, but unable to continue their medical profession in the U.S. without proper licensing. The NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine has established a program to re-educate Émigré physicians to become Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Émigré Physicians Program is a four-year medical education program, which must be completed on a full-time basis. Acceptance into the Émigré Physicians Program is selective and competitive. Candidates are chosen based upon academic excellence and an in-person interview process. Students in the Émigré Physicians Program will be required to successfully complete all the requirements of the medical school in order to qualify for graduation from the college. Medical residency follows successful graduation from the college and length of residency varies depending on specialty.
APPLICATION SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED FOR 2015.
