Career Centered Preparation

Upon graduation, students will have met their external experiential requirements and attained invaluable development beyond the classroom that will have enabled them to be most well-rounded and highly qualified candidates in the job market.

Student accomplishments include:

  • Graduating with at least 200 hours of industry work experience per academic year in residence at NYIT where they apply classroom theory in a real-world industry environment;
  • Participation in at least one community service event per year fostering an appreciation for the relationship between the hospitality industry and our global community;
  • Certification from at least two relevant hospitality related industry programs to build professional readiness and marketability; and
  • Attendance at four hours of professional enrichment workshops and hospitality related tours and events to broaden their knowledge and development through wisdom imparted by industry leaders.

Student Focused

Our small class sizes ensure an intimate, personalized learning environment with faculty and classmates.  Moreover, an experienced hospitality faculty advisor will be available to students from the day they enroll at NYIT until graduation.

Society of Hosteurs

Students can become a part of the Society of Hosteurs, a college-wide student-run club that brings everyone within the NYIT community together for a variety of social, charitable and educational activities. Club members cultivate career opportunities by participating in Hosteur events that put them in direct contact with industry leaders for dynamic career options. Students savor opportunities to work professional events and participate in industry focused tours, including vineyards, casinos, hotels, restaurants, trade shows, international travel tours, and more.

Diverse Community

Our students come from around the globe to savor the opportunities provided by NYIT’s geographic location and access to the hospitality industries leading food service, lodging and tourism organizations.  Opportunities to study abroad are also available during the path towards graduation.

Industry-Experienced Faculty

Campus Locations

Whether students choose to take courses online, at our picturesque Old Westbury campus on Long Island’s Gold Coast, or in the heart of Columbus Circle at our Manhattan campus, students can plan course locations that are most convenient for them.

Technology Infused

From the Blackboard online learning environment, to our interactive virtual classrooms, we infuse technology into every course.  These educational platforms enable us to provide the most qualified instructor in our classrooms.
