NYIT partners with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer three HR courses:

The SHRM Learning System® is designed to provide you with a solid understanding of key areas in human resource management. The course consists of six modules that correspond to the six functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge as defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

The program is offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as study material for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification examinations administered by HRCI. As a student in this course you will receive, six soft-covered books corresponding to the six content areas, access to web-based testing with nearly 1,600 practice questions, as well as a web-based resource center.The SHRM Learning System has some new features! You can now access the material, tests, flashcards and other resources directly from your mobile device or e-reader device and PC and laptop. Also, there is a new, innovative SmartStudy tool that helps streamline your study time and build confidence for passing the certification exam.
The course is available in a 36-hour classroom based format. Classroom-based classes meet once a week on one of NYIT's convenient Long Island or Manhattan campuses. They are taught by experienced and skilled instructors who have successfully guided several hundred individuals through their certification exams.
Those who successfully complete the course receive a Certificate of Human Resource Management from SHRM, and 3.5 CEUs of credit.

Tuition: $1150 or $1050 for alumni and SHRM members. The price includes the SHRM Learning system and access to web-based practice exam questions.
Instructors for SHRM Learning System classes:
Monday evening classes in Manhattan will be taught by RoseMarie LaMar. RoseMarie LaMar, MS, SPHR, has 20 years of HR experience and leads a HR consulting company that provides solutions to small and mid-sized companies.
Monday evening classes in Old Westbury will be taught by William Entenmann. William Entenmann, MBA, SPHR, has taught the SHRM Learning System class many years and has had many successful registrants. He possess an M.S. L. I.R. from NYIT, as well as the MBA. He is a graduate of our program.
Saturday classes in Old Westbury will be taught by Deirdre Duke. Deirdre J. Duke. RN, MSN, JD, SPHR has been a human resources practitioner since 1996, entered the field following successful careers in nursing and the practice of law.

HR has changed in the past decade, expanding across borders, cultures and economies. HR professionals earning an HR Certification Institute's Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR™) certification will be prepared to assume responsibilities beyond U. S. regulations - and possess the capability to develop global and cross-border HR policies.

SHRM® Essentials of Human Resource ManagementIf you're new to human resources or want to strengthen your employee management skills, the SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program is for you. Knowledge of the essentials can make you a better manager, protect your company from needless litigation, and help advance your career.
Offered in cooperation with the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), this cost-effective course covers real-life HR issues, including employment law, selecting qualified employees, compensation, the employee performance process and much more.
You'll benefit from the shared experiences of your instructor and peers, and learn new techniques for handling HR challenges.

*Please note that the Essentials of Human Resources Management Friday classes will meet from 9 am to 2:30 each day. You don’t need to bring lunch as we’ll arrange for a light lunch and beverages on-site.
