Transfer Students

Students who have earned the BS degree elsewhere and meet all admissions requirements to the MBA program may transfer into the BS/MBA program. However, in keeping with the professional educational requirements for public accounting licensure as specified in the recent amendments to sections 52.13, 70.1 and 70.2 of the NYSED Regulations of the Commissioner, the transfer requirements below apply so as to ensure appropriate credentials upon graduation and eligibility to sit for the certifying examination.

Specifically, all transfer students must, upon admission into the MBA program must:

  • Complete the thirty (30) credit MBA program requirement (this includes the twenty one (21) credit hour non-waiveable core and nine (9) credit hour accounting specialization);
  • Complete the eighteen (18) credit hour MBA waiveable core. Students may waive any of the courses in this module if they have successfully completed the course (or its equivalency) elsewhere with a grade of C- or better, and
  • Complete the twenty-seven (27) credit hour undergraduate “Accounting Module,” shown below. Without these courses the BS/MBA degree program cannot be completed. Students may waive any of the courses in this module if they have successfully completed the course (or its equivalency) elsewhere with a grade of C- or better.

ACCT 205 Accounting II
ACCT 302 Federal Taxation I
ACCT 306 Cost Accounting

ACCT 411 Auditing
ACCT 416 Advanced Accounting
LLAW 210 Business Law
ACCT 331 Intermediate Accounting II

Depending on the background of the student applicant, the BS/MBA program can be completed in as few as thirty (30) credit hours. However, student applicants who do not have the requisite background for the program requirements, per New York State requirements, and as stipulated in the previous section, may be required to complete up to seventy-eight (75) credit hours or more (dependent on other courses that must be completed to meet New York State requirements) to achieve the BS/MBA degree requirements.
