The Society of Hosteurs founded in 1995, helps to keep students of all majors informed about the Hospitality Industry. We educate members through programs, hotel/restaurant tours, community service, fundraising events, industry interaction as well as guest speakers. SOH supports a number of charity programs including: Autism Speaks, Nation Breast Cancer Foundation, Covenant House of NYC, and City Harvest. Each year, SOH plans semesters full of actives and events. In the past, SOH has coordinated events such as tours of the Hilton New York, Brotherhood Winery, "America's Oldest Continuous Winery Trips, and Atlantic City Casino Tours. The National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (here forth referred to as NSMH) is a non-profit student run organization. Since its founding at Cornell University in 1989, this professional trade organization has grown from 4 members to over 1000 members. NSMH prides itself on preparing minority students to be leaders in the hospitality industry. NSMH provides its members with a competitive advantage through programs and conferences, networking opportunities, scholarships, and career development services. NSMH is comprised of over 75 chapters at colleges and universities throughout the United States. Student membership is available to students enrolled in a post secondary academic program directly related to hospitality or meeting management. The student must be enrolled in at least six credit hour and more than six months from their anticipated graduation date. The cost of student membership is $40 per year. Student memberships are valid from October 1 – September 30 of the following year. Students who join after April will have membership extend to September of the following year.
