Summer in Australia

On the Semester on the Gold Coast program, you will enroll in CISabroad’s summer semester program at Bond University. As a CISabroad student, you’ll spend a summer at Bond University, one of the most highly ranked and modern universities in Australia. The year-round tropical climate isn’t bad either! Bond University is unique among Australian universities in that its academic calendar aligns with the US university calendar, meaning your summer semester will fit in during the normal summer break for NYIT students!

While CISabroad works closely with NYIT, you will need to apply and pay all program fees directly to CISabroad. While we can assist in the search for your ideal programs, it is important that you are aware of how the experience will fulfill credits back at NYIT. If you have any questions about this process, please contact

A few highlights of this program include:

  • Small class sizes – The student to faculty ratio is 11:1
  • Cutting-edge courses – Bond University received 5 out of 5 stars in Australia’s Good Universities Guide for quality of teaching making your decision to study on the Gold Coast one of the best for your degree.  Courses use the newest technology, and professors think outside the box.

Bond has over 4,000 students and also boasts Australia’s lowest student-to-faculty ratio! The multimedia learning center library and computer facilities provide both private and collaborative study spaces.

A top-notch academic experience in a beautiful setting is what defines the Semester on the Gold Coast.

  • Semester on the Gold Coast at Bond University offers a 14-week semester, beginning in May. You can easily find a semester that fits with your study abroad schedule. Bond has received Australia’s highest ratings for innovation, research, and academics.
  • GPA Required: 2.5.
  • How to choose your courses: As part of the application process you will be required to complete the CISabroad Course Selection Worksheet found on the CISabroad Application Page. The following instructions will guide you through the steps. You can select from four departments: the Faculty of Business, Technology, and Sustainable Development; the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, and the Faculty of Law.
  • Course load: 3–4 classes (12–16 US credits). You can take up to 4 classes per semester.
  • Course approval: It is best to get 7–8 classes approved before you go abroad. This gives you some flexibility in setting up your class schedule. Think about courses required for your major, but also courses that fulfill your elective requirements.
  • Course descriptions and catalog: Click here to view the entire list of courses that Bond has to offer.
  • How to read the Bond University course catalog: You will find classes offered at the 100, 200, and 300 levels. The 200- and 300-level classes at Bond are often equivalent to classes you take in your junior and senior years in the US. They will likely have prerequisites. Make sure you select only those classes that say "Yes" in the Study Abroad column, and double-check that the class is offered during the month you are starting at Bond.
