Through David Hickey (B.S. '85), president of Lumeta Corporation, NYIT has received a $2.2 million gift of services, hardware, and software to support the university’s Center for Network and Information Security to help fight against cyber attacks. An unlimited scanning license, along with maintenance and support of the company’s IPsonar network system, will serve as a teaching tool to help students analyze the connectivity between assets and networks, uncover risk patterns, and automate the enforcement of network policies as they research ways to improve cyber security and uncover new threats.
"As our students and faculty probe the constantly growing threat of cyber attacks on both private and public sector organizations, it’s important that we use the same systems that security experts have deployed within large companies and government agencies," said Ayat Jafari, chair of NYIT’s Department of Engineering and Computer Science.
