NYIT’s annual Gold Coast Classic, in conjunction with Quarterly Review of Wines, raised more than $430,000 on April 30 to support student scholarships and academic programs.
This year’s event, held at the Jumeirah Essex House in New York City, also featured the presentation of the Professional Excellence Awards to elite leaders of the food and wine community. Honorees included Leonardo LoCascio, president, CEO, and founder of Winebow Inc. (Wine Industry Award); Jerry Lohr, president and owner of J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines (Oenology Award); and Tony and Marisa May (Culinary Award), owners of SD26 Restaurant and Wine Bar.
The black-tie gala included silent and live auctions, dinner, dancing, and music by the Craig Scott Orchestra. In addition, physical therapy doctorate student Camila Tepper (D.P.T. ’10) discussed the benefits of her education and thanked donors for their contributions to NYIT students worldwide.
