One of NYIT’s finest – Navy surgeon and Gulf War hero Richard Jadick (D.O. ’97) – was the special guest alumni speaker at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (NYCOM) Hooding Ceremony on May 21. Held at the Tilles Center in Brookville, N.Y., the event honored 253 medical students, who received their doctoral degrees from Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., president of NYIT. A urology resident at the Medical College of Georgia and Augusta Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, Jadick was awarded a Bronze Star for saving the lives of seven badly injured Marines in Iraq. His experiences were featured in the cover story of the March 20 issue of Newsweek. He has also appeared on several television networks, including CNN, FOX and NBC.
Another special guest at this year’s ceremony was NYIT’s second president, Matthew Schure, who delivered the keynote address and received the Riland Medal for Public Service. |
