Alumni, faculty and staff members, and friends hit the fairways for the second annual NYIT Athletics Golf Outing on Sept. 11 at Stonebridge Golf Links and Country Club in Smithtown, N.Y. All 30 foursomes and 22 sponsorships quickly sold out—raising $45,000 to support the college’s athletic programs and facilities.
“The tremendous response from this year’s golf outing is a testament to the dedication of our alumni and staff members,” said Clyde M. Doughty Jr. (B.S. ’81, M.S. ’96, M.P.S. ’98), NYIT director of intercollegiate athletics. “This is a day when friends can gather to support our students and reminisce about good times at NYIT.”
Later that day, participants enjoyed cocktails and dinner, followed by prize giveaways that included an LCD television, as well as a live auction that included a foursome to the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.
“The weather was great and the atmosphere was electric,” said golfer Bob Costello (B.F.A. ’84). “Seeing the rise in alumni support really makes me look forward to next year’s event.”
