Sunny Skies, Warm Hearts
NYIT’s 43rd annual Commencement on May 23, 2004, brought warmth from the sun and from the hearts of all who celebrated the accomplishments of the more than 2,000 graduates.
The ceremony was the first for graduates of online-based Ellis College of NYIT, with some accepting their degrees in person. In addition, an honorary degree was presented to Dr. Raymond Damadian, inventor of the MRI scanner. Another was presented to Dr. Antonia Novello, commissioner of health for New York State and former U.S. surgeon general, at the NYCOM hooding ceremony on May 20.
President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., inspired graduates and guests with his Commencement address, citing our rich diversity and discussing how through common experiences, NYIT has provided each student with a solid foundation as a “citizen of the world.”
Planning is underway for this year’s Commencement on Sunday, May 22, 2005, at the Old Westbury campus. There are many opportunities for alumni to participate in this special occasion. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@nyit.edu or call 516.686.7800.
