Ad Campaign Opens the “Gates”
NYIT’s branding efforts reached a significant milestone when the college received approval from Bill Gates to use his name in its ongoing series of magazine and newspaper ads that profile future NYIT graduates. Designed to demonstrate how NYIT students are equipped to succeed with today’s leading companies, the ads have already generated employment opportunities for students featured in the ads.
Donny Deutsch, CEO of Deutsch Inc. and frequent guest on CNBC’s “Power Lunch,” arranged for one NYIT student to discuss advertising during a six-minute television interview. He was so impressed with her passion for the topic that he guaranteed her a spot in the company’s management training program upon graduation.
Fortuitous timing is another factor in the success of the advertising campaign. One ad mentioning Sofia Coppola ran in the New York Times Magazine on the day she won the Academy Award for Best Director, while another mentioning Donald Trump ran as his television show, “The Apprentice,” garnered huge ratings on NBC.
Additional NYIT ads are in the works involving Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg LP and current mayor of New York City, as well as a new version of the Trump ad.
In addition, the ad campaign has hit the airwaves on popular New York radio programs.
